DB&S Lumber and Home Improvement

DB&S Lumber and Home Improvement Centers is a name that has been synonymous with high-quality, affordable home supply products for more than 75 years. Founded in 1946 by Edward C. “Ed” Doherty, DB&S began as a family-run business specializing in hardware and remodeling supplies. Today, DB&S has grown to become one of the largest lumber and home improvement companies in the Boston area with four locations. We are proud to say that we are still family-owned and operated. Ed Doherty founded DB&S with his first location in Roslindale. Fourteen years later, he opened a second location in Westwood. In 1967, Ed expanded his business once again with the purchase of the Blacker & Shepard Yard of Boston. In 1968, the Boston location was moved to its present-day address on Gerard Street. Recognizing a need to better service South Shore customers, DB&S opened its locations in Norwell and Bridgewater in 1978 and 1986 respectively.
